Rachel Jane Falconer
The Playful Yoga Warrior
I am a Sydney-based health & wellness coach assisting you to develop your inner ninja! I have worked with over 90, 000 clients across the world to become fitter, stronger & more vibrant in their lives. I have had the pleasure of working with organisations such as NIDA, The Sydney Theater Co., Arup & The Climate Council.
I deliver a strong, alignment-based yoga & pilates classes. By focusing the mind on the precise placement of the body, the body is simultaneously stretched, strengthened & healed. Not only does this promote optimal energy flow, but it also gives our mind an opportunity to move beyond it's repetitive, everyday thoughts. This allows us to feel refreshed & rejuvenated, both physically & mentally. By fostering greater awareness in how we move & place the body through our physical asana practice, our ability to become more aware, or more conscious, increases in our everyday lives.
I aim to challenge myself & my students; How can we continually grow & expand, whilst maintaining the ability to return to our physical centre & our spiritual heart? My teaching style focuses on feeling the pose from the inside out, rather than simply placing the external "shape" of the pose onto our very own unique bodies.
I have worked in the fitness industry since completing an Arts degree, working as a personal trainer, gym staff member & membership consultant. I began practicing yoga over 17 years ago at the encouragement of my osteopath. At the time, I was training a lot in the gym, I looked strong, but my body was horrendously tight & I suffered from lower back & neck pain. I hated my first few yoga classes, but after completing my third class & being free from shoulder pain, I quickly realised there was something very powerful in this ancient practice. I completed my Bikram training about a year later.
In the subsequent years, I have trained with Baron Baptiste, Noah Maze', Christina Sell, Darren Rhodes, Sadie Nardini, Annie Carpenter, Maty Ezraty & Ananda Kennard.
In that time, my body has transformed from being excessively tight to uber flexible. Classic yoga injuries were beginning to show up in my body, a torn hamstring insertion & trochanteric bursitis, - the inflammation of the bursa at the top outer side of the thighbone. This often felt like the muscle fibres were tearing away from the bone. I was questioning whether I would have to leave my yoga practice behind. How could my practice, which offered me so much physical relief and mental clarity, be degrading my body? This has led me to explore in my own practice & teaching, how can we use our yoga practice to challenge ourselves physically, yet still maintain our ability to return to physical centre & spiritual heart?
In my 17 years of teaching, I have taught in Sydney, Melbourne, Rome & Jakarta.

A 2-hour workshop with the support of a Restorative Yoga practise with Rachel, and a Crystal Bowl Sound Healing with Belinda.
If you suffer from back pain, this event is not to be missed! We will explore hydrating, releasing, lengthening & balancing body’s deep stabilising muscles, to encourage a more balanced & fluid centre. Finding grace within our centre allows us to move more fluidly in life. The gentle movement, combined with sound allows us to unlock unconscious patterning, both physical & mental.
From a state of presence, you are able to let go of the old and bring in the new. The combination of yoga poses and sound frequencies allow your body to be in a deeply relaxed state, bringing awareness to stagnation within your body and mind. From this space, your nervous system can relax and rejuvenate, providing deep healing at a cellular level.
Suitable for beginners and experienced. All are welcome.

When was the last time you walked barefoot on the grass? Danced sober in the sunshine under the trees? When was the last time you fell to your knees and planted your hands in the dirt? Rachel gave me abdominal muscles!
I took your Restorative class last night, and I feel like I have been to the osteo! Awesome, thank you!
Rachel's class was great, I learnt more from her than any other teacher I have had previously.
I love to prepare nutritious & delicious food, here are some of my favourite receipes for you to enjoy.
Chia pots are one of my staple go-to snacks, they are quick & easy to make, packed with nutrition & easy to transport. I love them as a post-yoga treat, chia is a wonderful source of magnesium, omega 3's & fibre.
30g of organic chia seeds*
Approx 80ml of coconut milk
Approx 100mL of filtered water
(you can add less water & more coconut milk if you like it creamier)
Approx 100g of frozen mango (or any fruit you like)
Chopped mint leaves
Organic coconut shreds
Combine chia, coconut milk & water & immediately mix well. It's important to mix the chia & liquid as soon as they come in contact with one another, otherwise the chia can clump. Once combined, add the fruit. Top with mint & coconut shreds & store in the fridge. Enjoy!
*I buy my organic chia seeds (& all of my other nuts & whole food goodies) through the Wholefood Collective & save about 40% on RRP. Deliveries are made Australia wide, here is the link: https://thewholefoodcollective.com/ref/7
Warm Cauliflower Salad - an easy, healthy & tasty meal.
One head of cauliflower
Generous blob of Coconut oil
50g Feta cheese, crumbled
¼ of a pomegranate, arils (the red "jewels") removed
½ punnet of Grape tomatoes, halved
50g Chopped nuts - I used walnuts & sunflower seeds, use whatever you have on hand
Fresh mixed herbs (parsley, mint, coriander or whatever you have on hand), chopped
Salt & pepper
Olive oil (optional)
Pre-heat oven to about 200C, line a a baking tray with baking paper, & put the coconut oil onto the baking paper to melt.
Wash cauliflower & break into small pieces, then place on baking paper & toss in the coconut oil. Bake for around 20 minutes, or until browned, mixing occasionally.
In the meantime, place spinach leaves, feta, pomegranate arils, grape tomatoes, nuts & herbs in a serving bowl.
Once the cauliflower is browned, add to the prepared salad.
Season, & dress with lime juice, & olive oil, if desired.
Serve & enjoy!
Serves 2 as a meal.
Sweet potato & Raw Cacao mousse
Approx 700g sweet potato, cooked until soft
Generous ¼ c of raw cacao
2 generous dessert spoons of coconut oil
2 generous dessert spoons of organic honey
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
Pinch of salt
If desired, fruit & chopped nuts for topping.
Put all of the ingredients in the food processor & blend. You can adjust the quantities of the ingredients according to your particular taste, I like my chocolate dark, so you may like to add more honey. If you don't have a food processor you can use a blender, but you will need to add more liquid so it will actually blend, - I use a little of the cooking water from the sweet potato. I happened to have raspberries & pistachios on hand, which make a wonderful & tasty garnish!
Golden milk - milk of the gods & goddesses
Like everything I make, you can play around with the ingredients to suit your particular tastes. This makes 1 cup of golden goodness
Milk of your choice, coconut, almond, soy or cow (I use a mixture of coconut milk & water)
Some freshly grated ginger
Half a teaspoon of turmeric
Half a teaspoon of cinnamon
Ground black pepper (black pepper increases the bio-availability of turmeric)
Dash of cayenne pepper
Dash of cloves
Dash of nutmeg
Honey to taste.
Grate the ginger into a saucepan and add your choice of milk and heat. In your cup add the remaining ingredients. Once the milk is warm add to your cup, stir & enjoy.
. Yum yum in my tum!
Organisations I Support
My vision of for the world is for a fair, just & cohesive society & a healthy, vibrant planet. In order to fulfil this vision, I believe it is important to support businesses & organisations who actively work towards this goal. Here are some of the organisations I support.
Clearly Filtered Water
We are lucky to live in a country with potable water, but it still contains many contaminants, such as chlorine, fluoride & bacteria, leading to less than optimal health. Given that we are 80% water, it is important to be consuming the highest quality water available to us. Clearly Filtered water filters remove 99.9% of these contaminants & tastes amazing! They have a pitcher & water bottle filters, great if you are a renter like me.
I believe the more we give, the more we have the capacity to receive, as such, I am donating my time to teach the staff at the Climate Council.
